Not every guest wants to hand over their email or phone number, and that's fine, a QR code lets them skip typing anything in at all. For guests who are comfortable sharing, email and SMS are both built in. However someone wants to receive their photo, there's a way to reach them.
Your Guest Data is Stored in the Region of Your Choice
Where guest data lives matters, especially if you're running events in a region with real privacy requirements like GDPR. You choose the region at sign-up, and that's where your guests' data is stored. If compliance is something you have to think about, this is one less thing to worry about.
Email and SMS Cost Included
Sending photos shouldn't come with a separate bill you have to track. Email sending is included on every plan, no extra charge. SMS is included too, but how far it reaches depends on your plan.
Basic plans cover North America and a few additional countries. Pro and Pro+ extend to most countries worldwide (see excluded countries). And if you'd rather manage it through your own setup, you can connect your own Twilio account instead.
Do guests have to enter their email or phone number to get their photo?
No. A QR code lets guests get their photo without entering any contact info at all. This is useful for guests who'd rather not share anything, or for countries where SMS isn't supported.
Is SMS available in every country?
It depends on your plan. Free events can send SMS to the US and Canada. Basic events add Mexico, Malaysia, and Indonesia (sent over WhatsApp). Pro and Pro+ events can send to most countries worldwide [see excluded countries]. If your guest's country isn't supported, a QR code works as a fallback, no SMS required.
Do I have to pay extra for email or SMS sending?
No, sending costs are included in your plan for both email and supported SMS countries.
Can I use my own SMS provider instead?
Yes, if a country isn't supported, or you'd rather manage sending yourself, you can connect your own Twilio account.
Where is guest data stored?
Wherever you choose at sign-up. Guest data is stored in the data center for that region, which matters if you're subject to requirements like GDPR.
